Used to be a great app and security camera system, but they got greedy in the past year and the app is riddled with ads. You can’t even use it anymore. I’m really disappointed that I spent so much money on the hardware and you can’t even use them with the app anymore. Unless you want to pay money.

Insane level of obtrusive ads in app and forced ad push notifications. Materially changed the terms of service and basically turned a security device into adware. Cant even see our own SD card data although I paid for my hardware and bought my SD cards.

After I bought all the cameras, they changed the rules and started pushing heavy for upsell. I just tried going to view a section on the screen and they’re upsell is so aggressive I accidentally clicked on the ad three times which takes you completely out of the app and into a sponsor page. It’s absolutely infuriating so I’m replacing them one by one. It’s the most ugly aggressive upsell I’ve ever seen. I would actually be afraid to give them any money if not, for the simple reason that they changed the rules so how would I know they wouldn’t do that again and I don’t want to use their cloud that’s not secure. I’m using the onboard memory, but they’re punishing me for even accessing that.
Service is getting worse over time

Cameras are fine, but the service just keeps getting worse. It’s just an ad for subscriptions. Now any time I select a camera, I get to wait for an ad. If there is an emergency, Yi will delay my ability to see a camera feed for an ad. Live streaming is now limited to 3 minutes. Then another ad. Online storage of short recorded events are no longer available without a subscription. I will be replacing these cameras and never use yi again
