I absolutely love fable, but I can’t add books to my TBR right now!

Really great app. I love the tracking widget on my home page! Literally the only thing that would make it 5 stars is if I could sort my want to read list by rating. Please devs add this!
  • Infuriating to Use

The app is infuriating to use. When you add books to your finished list even with dates it won’t adjust your streak log meaning you have to add the dates twice. If you add a book directly to your finished list it only asks for the date you finished the book not when you started and finished it so you have to go back and edit it later or add entirely new dates. You are forced to cycle through key words and emojis for a review when adding a star rating which should be separate. Finally I wish there was an ability to track the format of the book. Overall not my favorite book tracking app. It’s flashy and colorful but not always accurate or helpful.

I want to rate it 5 stars because i like the app and the concept of it but everything is so buggy!!! when i tried to delete books from my “currently reading” list, it just moved them to the bottom of the list and this happens with ALL my lists. i tried deleting lists… they came back. tried editing lists… they stayed the same. i noticed this bug with the notifications as well. I tried to click on one that said there is a new book club tbr and it says it cannot load it. PLEASE FIX THIS!! it’s extremely annoying and off-putting to be dealing with this and it makes it so i don’t wanna keep using the app.
  • Reviews don’t get published!!!

I read well over 100 books every year, but when I try to post a review, I get a message that it’s not going to be posted and this is so irritating!
  • The best book app ever

More people need to know about this app. It’s free and easy to use, I love the layout and the community 🩷
  • Glitchy and hard to use

Idk. I wanted to love this app but it’s a little glitchy and hard to figure out. Like I can’t give any book five stars because it won’t let me slide past 4.75. And I still haven’t figured out how to edit the dates read. The whole user interface is just clunky and there’s just not as much interactive content. I’m probably going back to Goodreads because I don’t want to have to update 2 apps.
  • Paywalls

So they claim they didn’t put any free features behind a paywall but I would like to point out that all the stats they put behind a paywall can be accessed for FREE on Goodreads, Storygraph, hardcover etc. they are asking for money to tell me how many pages I read for the year when all these other apps offer that information for FREE! Why would I pay for that? Also the social part only seems to work if you’re a big influencer already, other that people just ignore what is posted. Haven’t tried the clubs yet but that would be the only aspect that puts fable apart from other apps.

UPDATED: Best Goodreads alternative I’ve tried!!! - I’m mostly here to read other people’s reviews and keep track of what I’ve read! This app is really for use case 1 (better than Storygraph- I’m looking for reviews from smart individuals, less aggregated emotions that don’t tell me much) but for #2 I have some minor issues: when I search for a book I’ve read, I’m not seeing a tag on the book to say Finished or Dates Read or anything like that. I need to know easily if I’ve read it before so I don’t buy it again! In fact any time I see a book (under recommendations or underr “other books by…” ) I wish I could see my tag/rating for the book. UPDATE #2: Also would love to be able to search by author in my finished list. I want to know quickly what I’ve read by X and if I liked them. New and improved search is so much better thank you for the update!!!! Thank you!!
