While most apps these days allow you to limit how much access it has to your personal files, Google Photos now does not function or show me any photos without full access to my phone. Blatant data grab and a terrible user experience. Do better, Google.

Just recently, I try to look at my photos and I cannot look at them unless I give Google full access to all my photos which I do not wish to do now I can’t get to any of my photos because they leave me no option but to give them access to all the photos so I haven’t seen any of my photos. I know a lot of them were deleted recently without me, giving consent to deleting them and I don’t know if I back it up if I’m gonna get any in the back up but anyway, no Bueno.

Removing albums from the bottom tab and hiding it behind the collections button, automatically showing random albums I’m apart of instead of just my own, the annoying outline running across photos I’m just trying to look at.
And now, the awful layout, enlarging photos at random, no longer in chronological order, and no way to customize my viewing experience.
I’ve been here for 10 years, but I will not be with Google photos for much longer if this persists. No idea which genius thought it would be cool to completely change the functionality of a wonderful app.
