Otter Transcribe Voice Notes for iPhone

As someone who is hearing impaired, Otter is a Life changer - Love it & Thank You!

You can’t touch the app while it’s uploading or an error occurs, but only after an extended amount of time waiting while not being able to use other features on your phone. Beyond the extreme inconvenience of that alone, you also cannot leave the app… It takes a ridiculous amount of time just to upload videos… A 49 second video on full Wi-Fi bars took 6+ minutes. Have fun wasting your time bc it usually results in an error regardless of doing everything correctly.

I’m a newspaper reporter, and this has helped a lot with transcribing interviews.It’s certainly not 100% accurate, but it’s accurate enough that it speeds up the process and helps me organize the main points I want to make in my story. It helps me find the quotes and information in the interview that I need faster than skipping around in a recording or simply taking notes where I mark certain time stamps. When I have chosen what I need, I can simply listen to it again to make sure I get all the words correct. It’s also very helpful that I can start re-listening by tapping any point in the text. Although my iPad takes pretty good dictation, it only works when I am speaking clearly and carefully into the microphone and is not good at transcribing pre-recorded interviews from my phone. Otter is a lot better at that and does it continuously without stopping for pauses in the interview. Also, the AI seems to be getting smarter and more accurate all the time, often (but not all the time) identifying speakers before I even get the chance, especially if I have interviewed a particular person often enough in the past.

Breaks in upload z they are so money focused a simple transcript needed to be upgraded to business. This company is just horrible . Find another app

The product works great but upgrading from Pro to Business is not possible on Apple platform. This is a really amateur setup and you will lose clients and revenue when you don't allow that and also won’t allow for reset until the end of the billing cycle. Big miss by the team. You really need to do better than that. This is really basic stuff.
