Tapas – Comics and Novels for iPhone

Pop-up ads in the middle of reading chapters I paid for!! Ludicrous.

I like to binge read. I have multiple subscriptions for multiple apps. Some seem like I’m ripping them off, some seem like I’m getting ripped off, but I’ve never seen this before. I started reading a rather long one with 600+ chapters. The free chapters were plenty to get me hooked but when I decided to purchase the ink to read the rest, I discovered it was going to cost me nearly $200!! I can understand this is a fairly long read (even though the chapters were short compared to others) but this is ridiculous. There doesn’t seem to be any other method to purchase either, which wouldn’t matter anyways because I shouldn’t have to hunt for ways to give you money. I guess I won’t be finishing this story or using this app again.

Edit: Tapas! Either take reports of malicious commenters more seriously or give us an easy way to block them on the app! Smarter people than I am have discussed the trolls/malicious comments on this platform on reddit, NU, and another webcomic app. Manta did it. Tappytoon did it. Webtoon patrols their comments religiously. You’re losing users over this. The titles that Tapas contracts are usually pretty good, but they can mostly be found on other platforms that do a better job of moderating comments. It’s 2026. I shouldn’t still have to read a comments about assault on minors by users whose names reference child pornographer on a romance fantasy comic. Tapas lacks moderators to actually curate the comments they allow on this platform which results in an extremely negative, vile comments section on comics that have nothing to do with material like that. If you just want to read comics and you’re happy to pay per chapter for the pleasure, there are so many other platforms. I can’t think of a single title on Tapas you can’t find elsewhere, and every last one of them moderates comments better than this one. And since Tapas doesn’t give users a way to easily report heinous content or to silence comments altogether, it’s really open season for trolls and groomers. Average readers are powerless to deal with them and it really ruins the experience. If you just want to read, there are way better options—at better prices, too.

I love all the books but why… why is the ink now 400?!?!!? Low it now!!!!!!

This app takes money out of people accounts

To start off, I do like the stories and translations are good, although sometimes the SFX are kind of silly. But my biggest issue is my reading list just randomly disappears. Like I started a new story, I’m 8 or so chapters in, and when I come back to app I have to scroll down to “continue reading” and literally half the time what I started isn’t there, so I lose out on continuing stuff! Tbh, that is most annoying part - not sure if it’s a user issue or whatever, but I’m just sticking to reading on browser now because I keep losing my stuff on app. Also UI is clunky and bloated. Keep “continue reading” at top, I know you have to push recs - but then at least don’t lose my stuff. Bye app.

The app is amazing but it keeps saying that all the games are no longer available and I was wondering if it is happening to other people as well

I love the app and its big library and the fact it has the comics and the novels as well, my only problem with tapas is i wish it had a membership option for the ink like you spend a certain amount a month and you get a certain amount of ink would be a cool add on instead of having to constantly keep buying ink

The ink system is annoying but the real issue is the WUF page. It doesn’t load properly. Incredibly frustrating to want to read and search through what’s available and it won’t even load. I’m more than ok with the waiting to read aspect. What bothers me is not being able to look through the available catalogue.

Unable to publish a webcomic with this app on an iPad. I refuse to give!! If Tapas won’t let me, I’ll go elsewhere.
