HOW IT WORKS
The magnetometer in your iPhone constantly reads the ambient magnetic field. IronScope subtracts the calibrated baseline (Earth's natural ~50 µT) and shows the excess as a metal-presence signal. Stronger ferromagnetic objects produce larger readings.
LIMITATIONS
Smartphone magnetometers have lower sensitivity than professional metal detectors. IronScope works best on small ferromagnetic objects (iron, steel, nickel) within a few centimeters. Aluminum, copper, and other non-magnetic metals will not be detected. Not suitable for treasure hunting at depth.
PRIVACY
The magnetometer is read locally. No audio, video, or location is collected. No analytics, no ads, no account.
